Design displays work at 2015 "Hope" breakfast for Breast Cancer Institute, Westmead
This year we celebrated our 10th year of working with the Breast Cancer
Institute at Westmead Hospital. The Design section have been producing
Hope posters for the annual charity breakfast celebrations providing
inspirational artworks and imagery of patients, doctors, nurses and
support staff associated with the Institute. The breakfast is a fund
raiser for the Breast Cancer Institute and it is also a platform for
raising awareness of research and treatment developments.
Again, Helen Clare worked tirelessly to make sure all posters were completed on time and ready for display. One of our ex Graphic Design students, Shayne Cocks, was the official photographer for the breakfast and was kept busy throughout the breakfast and then after taking photos of people for next years Hope posters. Thank you so much Helen and Shayne.

"Hope" Banner Design and People's Choice Award winner at Breast Cancer Institute Breakfast 2015
This years Breast Cancer Breakfast for the Westmead Breast Cancer Institute
was again decorated with fantastic designs produced by our Graphic
Design Diploma students at Nepean Arts and Design Centre, Western Sydney Institute TAFE for the tenth year running. The imagery and text showed in the posters reflected the theme of "Hope" and displays patients, doctors, nurses, support families and community support groups that are associated with the Breast Cancer Institute at Westmead Hospital, reflecting their vision of "Hope" for a fantastic future and support for breast cancer research.
As always, a
People's Choice award was given to one of the poster designs that the audience
felt had the best overall design appeal. This years Designer was Mica Blanco who began his Diploma studies early in the year.
A second congratulations goes to Mica also as her overall banner design was chosen by the staff at Nepean Arts and Design Centre as a template to show all student designs to be displayed at the breakfast. Congratulations Mica and thanks for your wonderful design.

Visual Merchandising Diploma at NADC 2013
My
name is Brendan, I'm 35, and I completed the Visual Merchandising Diploma course
in 2013 and graduated with Distinction.
I found the course quite enjoyable - it's very hands on and creative combining drawing, computer design and display building. The curriculum is comprehensive, covering everything from creating a colour wheel to display window object suspension - with teachers that have years of industry experience and knowledge.
While studying - TAFE also provides the opportunity to gain hands on experience through work experience programs with Myer and The Royal Easter Show.
Once completing the course and having acquired the necessary skills, I gained full time employment as a Visual Merchandiser with a well known furniture company.

2014 Zonta Club of Cumberland Award Winner
Congratulations to Trish Tipping, Graphic Design student in 2014 for winning the 2014 Zonta Club of
Cumberland Award for her progress in Diploma of Graphic Design. The award is given to an Indigenous woman studying at Western Sydney Institute of TAFE and recognises achievements of women in a TAFE course. The award applies to Certificate III level courses and above and all nominations are considered by a Zonta Club of Cumberland West panel consisting of two Zontians and a member of the Mt Druitt Aboriginal Education and Training Unit.
We are extremely proud to have Trish as one of our continuing students as she has been an amazing student to watch progress through her studies since she began with Nepean Arts and Design Centre, Kingswood TAFE. Trish has always come across as confident in her actions and personal attitude though what has really developed is her own creative ability and capacity to apply herself within the Design industry and community as a whole in a creative capacity. Her achievements have not only had a major impact on Trish’s study and results within class though have been a remarkably positive influence on her peer students and teaching staff as well.
Congratulations Trish on winning this award, you deserve all the accolades.
